Abyss was active as a geyser in 1904-05, had one eruption in 1987 and was active again from September 1991 to its last known eruption on June 7, 1992. Durations ranged from 45 seconds to 3 minutes on intervals as short as 45 minutes with heights up to 100 feet.

What to look for:
Please report any activity to the West Thumb or Old Faithful Visitor Center.
